Finding the right mediator for your specific needs can seem a pretty daunting task. Do you seek a large organisation or a smaller, independent worker? Do you go for a company who takes a range of legally aided clients as well as those who privately pay? Do you go for a male or a female mediator? Do you ensure you stick to a mediator who was a former solicitor, or do you try to find someone from a different professional background?
All of these are important questions for sure, but I would suggest making things just a little simpler for yourself. At New Landscape Mediation we feel the single most important factor in choosing a mediator is to ensure that you have a Family Mediation Council Accredited (FMCA) mediator who not only has a reasonable personality fit for you and your former partner, but that they are also able to personalise the work they do as much as possible to cater specifically for the needs of your family.
This is why, before making any sort of an appointment to meet with a mediator at New Landscape Mediation you will speak directly with the mediator you will ultimately be working with. We feel that you deserve the right to have an opportunity to determine whether you like the “feel” of a mediator before you invest any time or money into the process.
After you’ve spoken with your mediator over the phone, we will then work with you to set up an initial meeting. During this meeting our aim is to ensure that the focus is on you and what your family needs from mediation. Once we have spent time with both you and your former partner, we will devise a specific plan of action that is centred around helping you to achieve the goals you have made clear to us in your individual initial meetings.
Finding the right mediator for your family’s needs doesn’t have to be a task fraught with difficulty. Our FMCA mediators understand that you are in the middle of an extremely difficult time of your life. We understand that the needs of your family won’t necessarily match the needs of another. Your children, your finances, your future – these should be the main concerns of the professional you’ve chosen to assist you.
At New Landscape Mediation, whether we are working with you from our offices near Stansted Airport or from our central London location conveniently located within the Law offices of Stafford Young Jones near Monument station, we work hard to make sure that we help you achieve a personalised solution through a personalised service.
