Meet the Author: Carolyn Hanes

Carolyn HanesCarolyn Hanes is a regular contributor to the New Landscape Mediation blog and provides us with great insights into family mediation, mediation with children, and mediation after divorce.

She is a well-respected lawyer and mediator, and holds the following qualifications:

  • Carolyn Hanes studied music at Sheffield University 1983 – 1986 BMus(Hons) 2:1 and later went on to study music at postgraduate level Goldsmiths College, University of London, before studying law
  • She has been involved in family law since 1999, qualifying 2005
  • Carolyn is a member of Resolution
  • She is a collaborative lawyer
  • She is an accredited family mediator (FMCA)
  • She is also an accredited civil & commercial mediator (ADRg)

  • Carolyn is married and has three children, which, she says “has been the best job of all and probably the hardest!”
  • She also plays the piano and flute, loves opera, jazz, art, and theatre … and adores the Lake District
  • Carolyn has travelled quite extensively – most memorably, has taken a trip over the Khyber Pass and the Karakoram Highway or KKH (one of the highest paved international roads in the world)
